In the early days of soda, carbonated water was thought to contain healing properties. In fact when lemon-lime made its debut in the 1920’s, it contained lithium citrate, a mood stabilizing drug. While the days of pharmacies offering healing elixirs and beverages from the tap are long gone, this is where the soda industry’s roots began.
